Here's What Happens Next
From your first text with Bethany to a finished sign in your hands — every step, in plain English. No surprises.
You see your sign designed before you commit to building it.
Our lead designer Leah hand-draws your sign from scratch — your ranch name, your animals, your story. If you don't love what she creates, we refund you in full. A promise we've kept since 1980.
We Review Your Request
Bethany reads through everything you sent us — ranch name, ideas, the size you're thinking — so the conversation starts where you left off.
You Get Your Quote
Bethany texts you a recommended sign size and a real price — usually the same day. Most families invest $1,200–$1,800.
You Reserve Your Spot — 10% Deposit
A small 10% deposit holds your place on Leah's design schedule. It counts toward your sign — and it's fully refundable if you don't love the design she creates.
Leah Designs Your Sign
Our lead designer hand-draws your sign from scratch. You'll get a proof to review — with up to two rounds of changes included.
You Approve Before We Cut
Nothing gets cut from steel until you give the green light. Once you approve, it's 50% to start production — final 40% only when your sign is built and ready to ship.
We Build It & Ship It Free
12-gauge American steel, laser cut, powder coated for all-weather durability, packed with mounting hardware. Most signs ship 3–5 weeks after approval — free, anywhere in the lower 48.
From a Photo to a Finished Sign
Janet sent us a photo of her German Shepherd. Here's what we did with it.

Leah Drew the Silhouette
Our lead designer hand-traced the photo into a custom silhouette built for steel.
We Cut, Coated & Shipped
Heavy steel, laser cut, powder coated black, packed with mounting hardware, and shipped free to Colorado.
Real People. Real Shop. Real Signs.
Brad & Carley
J Dub's Metalworks was founded in 1980 by Jerry Bement — a close family friend who spent decades building the shop and the reputation. When Jerry retired, Carley and Brad bought the business because they believed in what he built and weren't going to let it disappear.
Today they run a full production shop in Bozeman, Montana — laser cutting, welding, powder coating, and shipping custom signs to families across all 50 states. Every sign that leaves our shop goes through our hands first. We're not a middleman, we're not a drop-shipper, and we're not going anywhere.
105 Five-Star Reviews
Every single review across Google and Facebook. Five stars. Zero negative. Here's what people say after their sign arrives.
"We hung the sign last weekend and three neighbors have already stopped to ask where we got it. The quality is unbelievable — you can feel the weight of the steel."
"The process was smooth and communication was excellent! I am 1,200 miles away and they were able to do exactly what I wanted. The detail is extraordinary!"
"I was nervous ordering something this custom online, but the team walked me through the whole thing over text. The finished sign looks exactly like the proof they sent me."
"From the start, they understood exactly what I was envisioning, quickly delivered excellent drafts, and patiently worked with me until it was perfect."
"Our sign has been up for two years now in the Arizona sun and it still looks brand new. This is real steel, not the flimsy stuff you see online."
"We just finished putting up the smaller sign yesterday. We've had compliments and inquiries. Thanks for the great artwork. We love it!"

What Does a Ranch Sign Cost?
We price by size. Not design complexity — whether you want one horse or ten, same price for the same size.
How Payment Works
We break it into three steps so you're never paying for something you haven't seen:
Leah spends real time drawing each sign from scratch. The small 10% deposit ensures we're working with serious customers so every project gets the attention it deserves. If you see the design and it's not for you, the deposit comes right back.
How We Compare

Straight Answers
From first contact to sign in your hands, most orders take 4–6 weeks. Design is about a week (depending on revisions), production runs 3–5 weeks after you approve. Rush orders available for an additional fee.
Yes — that's the whole point of the 10% deposit. It reserves time with Leah so she can draw your sign from scratch. You see the design before any steel is cut. If you don't love it, the deposit comes right back.
Two rounds of revisions are included. If you're still not happy, your 10% design deposit is fully refundable. We don't cut steel until you've approved the final design. You're never locked into something you don't love.
We use 12-gauge steel (0.105" thick) — that's 78% thicker than the 16-gauge most competitors use. Our signs are built to last decades, not years.
Yes. Ranch brands, logos, sketches, photos of your animals — send them over and Leah will work them into the layout. Very small or intricate elements (under 1 inch) may need to be simplified slightly for clean cutting.
Black matte powder coat is the default and by far the most popular. The dark silhouette against sky or wood posts is the classic ranch entrance look. Other powder coat colors are available — just ask.
It depends on your environment. In most climates the finish holds up well for many years. Signs in direct desert sun or high-salt coastal areas will show wear sooner than signs in cooler, drier climates.
The powder coat is a protective finish — it's not permanent, but the 12-gauge steel underneath is built to last decades. If your finish ever needs refreshing down the road, any local powder coater can re-coat it.
Our lifetime structural guarantee covers the steel and the welds — if a weld fails or the steel breaks, we make it right. The guarantee is on craftsmanship, not on cosmetic wear from weather exposure. The sign itself is built to outlast the posts it hangs on.
Free. Anywhere in the lower 48 states. Custom crated to prevent damage. Signs over 8 feet may ship via freight — we handle all the logistics at no extra charge. Alaska and Hawaii shipments are quoted separately.
We build the steel sign and its mounting hardware. The wooden posts, crossbeam, and concrete work are handled by your local contractor or you. Most customers use 6x6 or round timber posts set in concrete. We can advise on spacing and height.
Bethany is your main point of contact — she handles quoting, questions, and keeps you updated throughout the process. Leah is our lead designer who draws your sign from scratch. Brad and Carley own and run the shop. We're a real team in a real shop in Bozeman, Montana — not a website with a form and a prayer.
Bozeman, Montana. J Dub's was founded in 1980 by Jerry Bement. Brad and Carley bought the business when Jerry retired and run the full production shop today — laser cutting, welding, powder coating, and shipping from the same location.
10% on multi-sign orders. 10% veteran discount for those who have served. Beyond that, our pricing is our pricing — we don't negotiate or price match. The quality of steel, design, and finish is something we refuse to cut corners on.
